Take a Stained Glass Making Class

Completed April 8-15, 2022

There's this one Eddie Izzard bit where he discusses people not knowing that they may be a natural prodigy in something. His example is that tigers may be really amazing at playing the bango, but no one has ever give a banjo to a tiger, so how would anyone know? For years, I've always thought about "finding my banjo" which is why I like to try as many things as possible to see what I can do and if I like it.

Stained glass is one of those things! I was looking high and low for places to do stained glass and I somehow noticed there was a local artist in Ocala that offered a three class series on various techniques, so I signed right up. Oddly enough, his studio/store was in the same place I used to do hot yoga at before it closed.

The first day I went in, I made a (very wonky) dragonfly. Then the next day I made an iris. The final class was making a mirror and mounting the iris on each. Each lesson was about 2-4 hours, but it was more of gentle guidance on what to do, then working on it while talking with the artist, Designs by Daniel.

I ended up enjoying it a lot and then purchased a starter kit to be able to do it at home. Sadly, I have only made one project since then, but I need to get back on it because I have so many ideas!
