Parasailing

My dad’s death in June 2021 got the ball rolling on my 40 Before 40 list. I know I need to live while I have the chance and not put things off to the future. For the 2nd anniversary of his death, I convinced my brother to go parasailing with me.

I learned something interesting that day – my brother is pretty afraid of heights and doing this with me was going to take him way out of his comfort zone. I scheduled with Eagle Parasailing in Madeira Beach. We loaded into the boat and went off into the gulf. There were four other groups with us and we were the third. Kyle warned me that it might scare him so much it was possible that he would pee his pants, lol. He didn’t, it was fine.

We went up into the air and enjoyed the amazing views. We even saw several loggerhead turtles swimming in the water. Even from our high vantage point they were huge, so I can’t imagine how enormous they are close up! I think we had about a 15-minute flight and it was incredible. I’m so glad I got to share it with Kyle!!

Since we were already in the area, we went to the Alligator & Wildlife Discovery Center, which unfortunately is closed now due to a fire in the area. There I got to hold a snake (I want a snake sooooo baaaaaddd), a hedgehog, a gator, and a chameleon! It was so amazing!! One good part is that they have “handling limits” on their creatures, so the only bring them out if the animal is willing to go to the keeper and some only get handled twice a day or a few times a week – a few of the snakes apparently loved being handled, so some will stay out of their (day) cages for quite a bit of time.

This is Nagini and I love her and she hates hats and glasses

The first sweet bebe is a panther chameleon. I also held and alligator and a hedgehog!
