Going to High Tea in Fancy Attire

I decided to take a vacation without a race attached to it (I did end up doing a race while I was there, but it wasn’t the point of my trip, so there). I visited my sister and her family who live just outside of Salt Lake City, Utah. While we were there, I knew it would be a perfect time to do some of my list items. I could have easily gone to a place in Orlando for fancy tea, but it was something I wanted to share with another person, especially someone who also likes to get fancy and do fun things: my sister Kandi.

Once I had the dates set for my trip, we booked tea at The Grand America Hotel in downtown SLC. After getting in our fancy attire, we headed to the hotel which was absolutely gorgeous.

Once we got in, we chose The Grand Traditions tea that had all of the desserts, sandwiches, and tea, but was an upgrade with champagne (lavender!) and a cheese plate. Also, I will say this now - we 100% forgot to get a picture of both of us at the table together taken by a third party. We were enjoying the experience too much and completely spaced it.

Once we’d finished with the cheese plate, our tray of desserts and tea came out. I got the No. 5 Dandelion Chai and Kandi got the Hibiscus tea. All of the desserts were delicious. I tried a bite of three of the sandwiches: egg salad, cucumber, salmon, and ham (that had onions in it, so that was a no go due to my allergy) I didn’t find any of them appealing, so I stuck with my single bites. I was jealous of the little girls at the next table over because they got peanut butter and jelly. Had I known that was an option, I would have definitely requested it, haha.

The ambiance was great (they had a harpist the whole time!), the food delicious, the tea incredible, and the company fantastic! Such a cool experience!!
